If your company is using a custom fitted environment, adopt it in Vertex BD 2021 (27.0) version, and upgrade the software version changes to it as instructed below.
Adopt the Custom Fitted Environment
Install the Vertex BD 2021 (27.0) standard version according to instructions.
Copy the customer fitted "custom" and "shared" folders from the previous version over the Vertex BD 2021 (27.0) standard version.
Copy over the folder to get the new files included in the "custom" folder of the standard version in use.
- Make a copy of the template project folders (../shared/template/projects/) included in the the Vertex BD 2021 (27.0) standard version (copy to C:/temp, for example).
- Copy the custom and shared folders from the previous version to the Vertex BD 2021 (27.0) standard version.
- Select "Replace original files", when the operating system asks you to.
- Delete or rename the template project copied from the previous version: for example, ../shared/template/projects/ TEMPL-WDFRAME -> TEMPL-WDFRAME_old (if one exists). Rename, if you wish to keep a project or parts of it!
- Move the template project folders from the C:/ temp folder to the ../shared/template/projects folder of the Vertex BD 2021 (27.0) version.
If you know that the ../user/SETUP file has custom fitted settings, copy them from the ../user/SETUP file of the previous version to the ../user/SETUP file of the Vertex BD 2021 (27.0) version.
Enable the system administration functions by setting the keyword in the ../user/SETUP file: set.system.menu= 1
Start Vertex BD.
The custom update function starts automatically. Select the latest version you have used from the Previous update list. If the last version you updated was 2020 (26.0), it is selected by default in the list.
Confirm by clicking OK. Analysis of the custom folder takes a while. Finally, you will see a list of the conducted measures.
Test the Vertex BD 2021 (27.0) version before the deployment and notify the support service of the possible faults.
If you are using a version older than the Vertex BD 2013 (19. 0), please contact the support service to ensure that the environment can be copied directly to the Vertex BD 2021 (27.0) environment.
Template Projects And the Layer Scheme
You can use customer-specific template projects, or you can use the template projects of the software supplier.
The layer scheme that you use can be:
- The layer scheme of the software supplier saved in the system settings.
- A customer-specific layer scheme saved in the drawing file in the ../custom/setup/layer-templates folder.
In either case, changes may have been made to the layer scheme that have not been updated in template projects.
When you create a new project, select Update Layer Scheme in the dialog box to load the current layer scheme into the new project and update the changes made to the layer scheme to the project drawings. The selection will be saved, and it will be used whenever you start a new project based on a template project.
Update software version changes to custom fitted files by using the system update function. The update function starts automatically when you have followed the steps described above and started the program.
If necessary, you can also start the function by selecting System | Update Custom.
Files to be Updated
The system update function performs the operations described below.
Changes have been made to the component libraries in system folder. The update function checks and updates the references to the component thumbnail bitmaps in the databases of the following customer-specific component libraries:
Sub folders are no longer supported in component libraries. All the drawing and model files of components must be saved in the main folder that is located in custom/complibs folder. For example:
The update function adds the field FRM_TOOL to the customer-specific layer libraries, for example:
The field can be used for selecting a default framing tool for a layer.
Insulation and Sheathing Libraries
The update function adds the field SECTPROP to the databases of the customer-specific insulation and sheathing libraries:
Wall Framing Details
The update function adds new framing details to the customer-specific wall framing detail library. The databases to be edited are:
- custom\dbases\d_DET_FRAME - Wall frame details
- custom\dbases\d_DET_CL_LEV - Clip levels
- custom\dbases\d_DET_PROF - Pieces of frame details
Pieces of Frame Details
The update function adds the following fields to the customer-specific DET_PROF database (custom/dbases/d_DET_PROF):
- ICUT_EDGE - Cut edge
- ICUT_TOP - Cut front
- ICUT_BOT - Cut back
The parameters can be used to control the clipping of top or bottom plate in a wall frame according to an inclined structure (roof).
This feature can be implemented as customization.
The update function adds the following details to the customer-specific DET_PROF database (custom/dbases/d_DET_PROF):
Metric steel environments
The update function adds the following new fields to the WALLFRM database in the customer-specific wall framing macro component library:
The udpate function updates the custom/details/material_specs file - default material specifications for wall panels.
The update function fixes the clip levels in the DET_CL_LEV database of the customer-specific wall frame detail library (custom/dbases/d_DET_CL_LEV). The following details will be fixed:
