These instructions apply to users who have Windows 10 operating system and a driver required by a HASP protection module installed on their computer. The HASP module may or may not be in use.

A problem has been detected in Windows 10 version 2004 (May 2020 update) when the current HASP driver version on the computer is 7.100 or older. Windows 10 version 2004 might fail to install or might fail to start after updating. The problem also affects Windows Server version 2004.

You can check the current Windows 10 version by using the command "winver".

We primarily recommend a NetVID license, in which case a separate protection module is not required. To order a change of license type, contact Vertex Sales.

Update or remove the HASP driver before updating Windows 10

If you are still using a license connected to a HASP protection module, update the driver to version 7.103 before updating Windows 10. Remove the old driver and install the new one.

If you are using a NetVID license, you can remove the HASP driver.

You can update or remove the driver by using the installation program that you can download here: haspdinst7103.zip

Save the file to C:\temp folder, for example.

Extract the compressed file: select the file, right-click and select Extract All..

Remove the old driver and install the new one as follows:

  1. Disconnect the HASP module from the USB port.

  2. Open Command Prompt as administrator.

  3. Remove the old driver by running the command:

    C:\temp\haspdinst7103\haspdinst7103.exe -r -kp

Wait until you receive the notification: Operation successfully completed

  4. Install the new driver by running the command:

    C:\temp\haspdinst7103\haspdinst7103.exe -i -kp

Wait until you receive the notification: Operation successfully completed

  5. Connect the HASP module to the USB port.

If the operating system has already been updated

If the operating system crashes, disconnect the HASP module from the USB port and restart the computer.

Remove the old driver and install the new one as described above.

By using the command "haspdinst7103.exe -info" you can check the current HASP driver version. For example:

C:\temp\haspdinst7103\haspdinst7103.exe -info

The HASP driver 7.103 is included in all Vertex CAD software installation packages starting from version 26.0.09.

If you reinstall the program using an older installation package after updating your operating system, do not install the old HASP driver included in the installation package, but install version 7.103 separately as described above.
